Marvin Dean Conner

Funeral services for Marvin Dean Conner, 77, Lawrence, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary Eudora Chapel. Burial will follow in Reno Cemetery.Mr. Conner died Wednesday, June 21, 2006, at Eudora Nursing Center.He was born Feb. 28, 1929, in Cherokee, the son of Clem C. and Gladys Rhinehart Conner. He graduated Crawford Community High School in 1946.Mr. Conner was a member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union for 59 years, where he also served as treasurer. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was a longtime board member of Reno Township and was instrumental in establishing the Reno Fire Department. He liked to watch and play baseball, bowl, pitch horseshoes, play pool, golf and pitch. He enjoyed winters in South Texas.He married Melba L. Moody on August 27, 1949, in Cherokee. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include two sons, Richard D. and wife Diane, Leawood, and Jeffrey R. and wife Victoria, Seneca; two grandsons, Briar and Clay Conner; and many nieces and nephews.A grandson, Ryan, died earlier, and a sister, Erma Payne, died earlier.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Warren-McElwain Mortuary-Eudora Chapel.E-mail condolences may be sent to info@warrenmcelwain.com, subject: Conner.
