Edgar Johnson

Graveside inurnment services for Edgar Johnson, 86, Ottawa, will be at 10 a.m. today in Osawatomie Cemetery.Mr. Johnson died Wednesday, June 21, 2006, at Richmond Healthcare Center.He was born May 25, 1920, in Osawatomie, the son of Louis M. and Cordie Alice Beck Johnson. He grew up in Osawatomie and graduated from Osawatomie High School in 1938. He also lived in Little Rock, Ark., Paola, Princeton and moved to Ottawa in 1985.Mr. Johnson served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a dairy farmer for 25 years. He also worked as a switchman for Missouri-Pacific Railroad and for a short time at the Osawatomie Post Office. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Osawatomie and Warren Black Post 60, American Legion, in Ottawa.He married Miriam B. Potter on Jan. 17, 1941, in Osawatomie. She died Oct. 4, 2005.Survivors include a son, Rick, Greeley; a daughter, Loretta Edwards, Garnett; and five grandchildren.The family suggests memorials to Midland Hospice, sent in care of Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S.
