Helen L. Logan 1911 - 2006 Lawrence
Private family inurnment for Helen L. Logan, 94, Lawrence, will be in Lost Springs Cemetery.Mrs. Logan died Wednesday, June 21, 2006, at Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community.She was born Aug. 1, 1911, in McFarland, the daughter of Charles and Rose Kugler Meinholdt. She attended school in the McFarland area. She moved to Topeka in 1932, Lost Springs in 1947 and Lawrence in 1970.Mrs. Logan was a homemaker. She and her husband owned a restaurant and grocery store in Lost Springs for 20 years. She volunteered for Douglas County Senior Services for many years.She married Richard Logan in 1938 in McFarland. He died in 1990.A son, Charles Wayne Logan, died in 1949.Survivors include a son, David Logan, San Antonio; a daughter, Caroline Salaty, Lawrence; four brothers, Leo Meinholdt, Asheville, N.C., George Meinholdt, Lawrence, Lewis Meinholdt, Bethany, Mo., and Frank Meinholdt, Wamego; a sister, Esther Akers, Colorado Springs; and three grandchildren, Tim Logan, Madina Salaty and Tamara Salaty.The family suggests memorials to the Douglas County Visiting Nurses Assn., American Heart Assn. or American Diabetes Assn., sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home in Lawrence.Online condolences may be sent at <a href="http://www.rumsey-yost.com">www.rumsey-yost.com</a>.
