Services for Fred Sutton Jr., 83, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Lawrence. Military graveside services by American Legion Dorsey-Liberty Post 14 will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.Mr. Sutton died June 10, 2006, at his home.He was born April 15, 1923, in Hutchinson, the son of Frederick Earl Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Lannoye Sutton. He graduated from Hutchinson Junior College and from the University of Kansas in 1949 with a degree in electrical engineering.Mr. Sutton served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II in the 94th bomb group and completed 30 missions as a navigator aboard B-17 aircraft during World War II. He received a distinguished flying cross and two presidential citation oak leaf clusters. He owned and operated Audiotronics in Lawrence for 35 years until he retired in 1986. He remained an active entrepreneur. He was a member of the Jaycees, Breakfast Optimist Club, Lawrence Chamber of Commerce, Dorsey-Liberty Post 14 of the American Legion and Aircraft Owners and Pilots Assn.He married Ida Mae Woodburn on July 1, 1950, at Danforth Chapel in Lawrence. She survives, of the home. Other survivors include a son, Michael Sutton; a daughter, Liz Hamm; and four grandchildren, T.G., Samantha, Spencer and Wendybeth.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. The family suggests memorials to Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders, Lawrence Humane Society or Lawrence First United Methodist Church, sent in care of the mortuary.
