Lola Mae Newman 1931 - 2006 Lawrence
Graveside services for Lola Mae Newman, 75, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Maple Grove Cemetery.Mrs. Newman died Thursday, June 1, 2006, at her home.She was born Jan. 12, 1931, in Lawrence, the daughter of William and Gertrude Lewis Howard. She attended Lawrence public schools.Mrs. Newman was a homemaker and a member of Order of the Eastern Star.She married William Francis Newman on April 15, 1954, in Lawrence. He died May 4, 1971.A son, Steven D. Newman, died Dec. 30, 1997.Survivors include two daughters, Jacqueline P. Newman, Kansas City, Mo., and Barbara D. Mumford, Lawrence; three sons, Robert E. Newman, William L. Newman and Brian E. Newman, all of Lawrence; a sister, Josie M. Howard, Lawrence; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
