Mary Joan Rose

Services for Mary Joan Rose, 82, Edmond, Okla., will be at 3 p.m. Friday at The Bridge in Mustang. Burial will be in Maple Hills Cemetery in Fort Scott, Kan.Mrs. Rose died Monday, May 29, 2006, in Edmond.She was born Jan. 28, 1924, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Samuel W. and Bernice “Bunny” Ramsey. She attended Pittsburg (Kan.) High School. She lived in Lawrence, Kan., from 1948 to 2001.Mrs. Rose was a homemaker and a member of Plymouth Congregational Church in Lawrence. She was a Girl Scout leader in the 1950s and ’60s, a member of the Weavers Guild and was involved with the Humane Society, all in Lawrence.She married Robert “Bob” Rose on Aug. 5, 1944, in Denver. He survives, of the home.Other survivors include a son, Robert Rose Jr., Oklahoma City; a daughter, Linda Nalley, Edmond, Okla.; five grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.The family suggests memorials to the Lawrence Humane Society, 1805 E. 19th St., Lawrence 66046.E-mail condolences may be sent to okcjhawk@msn.com.
