Maxine Kubin Dunham

Services for Maxine Kubin Dunham, 90, Aurora, Colo., were Tuesday, July 18, at Fairmont Chapel in Denver. Inurnment was at All Souls Walk at St. John Episcopal Cathedral in Denver.Mrs. Dunham died Saturday, July 15, 2006, in Aurora, Colo., from heart failure.She was born Dec. 30, 1915, on a farm near McPherson, Kan., the daughter of George and Evelyn Ellrick Kubin. She attended a one-room school in Elmdale, Kan., and graduated from McPherson High School in 1934. She received a bachelor’s degree in dietetics and institutional management in 1938 and a master’s degree in home economics in 1970, both from Kansas State University. Mrs. Dunham and her husband owned Dunham Photography Studio in McPherson for 30 years. She taught at the University of Utah in the 1970s. She worked for Blue Cross in Denver until she retired in 1980. She was a member of McPherson Congregational Church, Soroptimist, Chapter GP, P.E.O. Sisterhood, Kappa Omicron Nu and home economist organizations. She volunteered at the Denver Museum of History and Science for more than 20 years.She married Howard S. Dunham on March 25, 1939, at First Presbyterian Church in Topeka. He died in 1991.Her parents also died earlier.Survivors include two sons, Jon W. Dunham and wife Bonnie, Lawrence, and Scott K. Dunham, Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister, Laura Kubin Thurman, Idaho Springs, Colo.; and a grandson, Gregory K. Dunham, Lawrence.The family suggests memorials to Denver Rescue Mission, P.O.
