Donald Keith Edmondson 1923 - 2006

Graveside services for Donald Keith Edmondson, 83, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Memorial Park Cemetery.Mr. Edmondson died Tuesday, July 18, 2006 at his home.He was born July 11, 1923, in Lawrence, the son of Harry Watts and Olive Elizabeth Hall Edmondson. He graduated from Liberty Memorial High School in Lawrence and Kansas University with a degree in history. He was a lifelong resident of Lawrence.He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II in Europe. He was a carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years until he retired. He was a past exalted ruler of Elks Lodge 595, B.P.O.E. in Lawrence, Mount Oread Aerie 309, F.O.E. Eagles in Lawrence, Dorsey-Liberty Post 14, American Legion in Lawrence, and Alford-Clarke Post 752, Veterans of Foreign Wars in Lawrence.He married Elizabeth Ann Bigsby on Nov. 8, 1942. She died in 1979. He married Eve Herren. She died earlier.Survivors include a son, Christopher, Lawrence; a daughter, Cheryl Wright and husband William, Topeka; five grandchildren, Christi Stewart, Jason Edmondson, Curt Wright, and Shaun and Adam Edmondson; and a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Stewart.An infant son, Michael, died earlier.The family suggest memorials to the ALS Assn., Keith Worthington Chapter, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
