Charles Arthur “Chuck” Hardman

Services for Charles Arthur “Chuck” Hardman, 68, Olathe, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Grace United Methodist Church in Olathe. Interment will be at Willowbrook United Methodist Church in Sun City, Ariz.Mr. Hardman died Wednesday, July 12, 2006, at his home.He was born Dec. 12, 1937, in Beloit, the son of Lewis A. and Marian Ryan Hardman. He attended Osborne High School and graduated from Wentworth Military Academy. He attended Fort Hays State College.Mr. Hardman moved in 1961 to Lawrence, where he owned and operated Jayhawk Bowling Supply. He was a member of the Bowling Proprietors Association of America, National Association of Independent Resurfacers, Heritage United Methodist Church and Willowbrook United Methodist Church. He received lifetime achievement awards from BPAA and Brunswick Bowling and Billiards for significant contribution to furthering the game and sport of bowling. He will be inducted into the Kansas Bowling Proprietors Hall of Fame and will receive a special service award later this month. During semi-retirement in Sun City, Mr. Hardman enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, playing golf and fishing with his grandchildren.He married Linda Taylor on July 11, 1997, in Lawrence. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include three sons, John, Lawrence, Bryan, Houston, and Jeffrey Tull, Overland Park; four daughters, Mary Sites, Wichita, Kari Hardman McCune, Manhattan, Jeannine Sharon, Olathe, and Julie Kent, Becket, Mass.; his mother, of Olathe; a sister, Mary Lew Carnahan, Houston; and 15 grandchildren, Nathan, Alex, Katie, Madison, Thomas, Halle, Peyton, Keller, Maycie, Whitney, Jakeb, Noah, Sage, Rose and Taylor.He was preceded in death by his father and a granddaughter, Hanna Marie Sites.The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Heritage United Methodist Church in Overland Park.The family suggests memorials to the Muscular Dystrophy Assn., in the name of Chuck Hardman, sent in care of Topeka Harley-Davidson, 2047 S.W. Topeka Blvd., Topeka 66612.Heartland Cremation and Burial Society of Overland Park is in charge of arrangements.
