John R. "J.R." Stanwix 1947 - 2006

Graveside services with military honors for John R. "J.R." Stanwix, 59, Hereford, Ariz., will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence.Mr. Stanwix died Sunday, July 9, 2006, at his home.He was born March 13, 1947, in Lawrence, the son of Clayton Clement and Betty Irene Edgar Stanwix. He graduated in 1965 from Lawrence High School, where he played football. He later attended college and became an anesthesia technician.Mr. Stanwix served in the U.S. Air Force from 1968 to 1971 and attained the rank of sergeant. Survivors include his mother, Lawrence; two sons, Chris, Newalla, Okla., and Michael, Connecticut; a daughter, Amanda Stanwix, Phoenix; two brothers, Gary and Dale, both of Lawrence; seven grandchildren; and his life partner, Wanda Costilli, of the home.Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to noon Friday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where the family will receive them from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.The family suggests memorial contributions to the J.R.
