Ethel Duncan

Services for Ethel “Marie” Duncan, 88, Eudora, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Eudora United Methodist Church. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Bucklin Cemetery in Bucklin.She was born Jan. 14, 1918, in Ford, the daughter of Emerson Verne “Jim” and Leona Josephine Bisbee Melia. She graduated from Kansas State University in 1942 with a Bachelor of Science in home economics. She lived in Hutchinson for 30 years. She moved to Blue Springs, Mo., and then to Eudora.Mrs. Duncan worked in the food service industry for many years and worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Hutchinson from 1963 to 1968. She also leased and operated Landmark Cafe in Hutchinson for two years. She volunteered for Douglas County Senior Meals. She was a member of the Eudora United Methodist Church and the First Christian Church in Bucklin.She married William H. Duncan on Oct. 3, 1947, in Wichita. He died Jan. 2, 1986.A son, Jim Duncan, died in 1994.Survivors include a daughter, Patricia M. “Patty” Bryant, Eudora; two sons, William Michael “Mike” Duncan, Lawrence, and Richard G. Duncan, Pretty Prairie; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary, Eudora Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday.The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Assn. or Alzheimer’s Assn., sent in care of the mortuary.
