Achim Kretschmer

A celebration of life for Achim Kretschmer, 58, formerly of Lawrence, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Ecumenical Christian Ministries. Inurnment will follow at Vajra Farm in Oskaloosa.Dr. Kretschmer died on June 20, 2006, at his home in San Rafael, Calif.He was born Nov. 11, 1947, in Hohr-Grenzhausen, Germany, the son of Kurt and Lilli Kretschmer. He attended the University of Mainz and Kansas University on a Fulbright Scholarship. He lived in Lawrence from 1970 to 1981 and graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic-West in 1985 and practiced in San Rafael, San Francisco and Germany for the past 21 years. He was a practicing Sufi for the past 30 years.He married Vivienne Hardy on May 12, 1998. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include a son, Isa, Lawrence; his mother, Lilli, Hohr-Grenzhausen, Germany; his former wife, Kathryn Nemeth Tuttle, Lawrence; several cousins; and family friends Steve and Nancy Moring, Lawrence.
