Vernon C. Lyster

Graveside inurnment services for Vernon C. Lyster, 74, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence.Mr. Lyster died Thursday, July 6, 2006, at Baldwin Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.Mr. Lyster was born Sept. 4, 1931, in Wichita, the son of Joseph Dale and Mary Voncille Henry Lyster. He was raised in Emporia and attended Emporia public schools. He lived in Lawrence for the past 12 years.He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.Mr. Lyster had a lifelong interest in the rodeo, where he was a professional bull rider and clown. He also worked as a laborer and volunteered at Watkins Community Museum of History.Survivors include two sisters, Carol Wallace and husband Cliff, Lawrence, and Juanita D.
