James R. Farthing 1945 - 2006
Services for James R. Farthing, 60, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River, Ill. Burial will follow in Woodland Hills Cemetery in Wood River.Mr. Farthing died Friday, Jan. 27, 2006, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.He was born Feb. 27, 1945, in Alton, Ill., the son of William S. and Doris Lippold Farthing.Mr. Farthing served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He had been fire chief in Shawnee and was a salesman for Dale Willey Automotive in Lawrence.He was a member of Lawrence Breakfast Optimist Club.Survivors include his father, Wood River; four sons, Kyle, Plainfield, Ill., Kerk, Shawnee, Kory, Fishers, Ind., and Cody Campbell, Lawrence; and six grandchildren.Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary or Marks Mortuary, 633 E. Lorena St., Wood River IL 62095.
