Robert Eliot ‘Bob’ Douce

Services for Robert Eliot “Bob” Douce, 84, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Private entombment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Bartlesville, Okla. Mr. Douce died Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.He was born Aug. 29, 1921, in Pratt, the son of William and Grace Griswold Douce. He attended the University of New Mexico and graduated from Kansas University, where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta social fraternity.Mr. Douce served in the U.S. Navy as an ensign during World War II. He worked as vice president of Special Groups at Maupintour in Lawrence for 30 years before he retired in 1987. He then continued to serve as a private consultant for Maupintour for three years. He administered the People to People Program at Maupintour and was a co-founder of the Kansas City Chapter of the People to People Program. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Lawrence, Acacia Lodge 9 AF&AM, and the Elks Lodge.
