Services for William L. Kline, 91, Hutchinson, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Park Place Christian Church in Hutchinson. Private graveside services with military honors will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Hutchinson.Mr. Kline died Monday, Jan. 23, 2006, at Hester Care Center in Hutchinson.He was born Aug. 11, 1914, in Hutchinson, the son of Norval N. and Maude Lamont Kline. He graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1932. He attended Hutchinson Junior College and graduated from Kansas University in 1936.Mr. Kline served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a first lieutenant with the Fourth Armored Division from 1943 to 1946 and received a Bronze Star and battlefield commission. He worked at Kline Insurance Agency from 1946 to 1992, when he retired as president.He was a member of Park Place Christian Church. He also was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma honorary society at KU's School of Business, Lysle Rishel American Legion Post No. 68 and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served on the board of directors at Central Bank and Trust Co. and had been chairman of Grace Hospital. He served on the boards of Health Care Inc. and Hutchinson Hospital. He had been a president and board member of Hutchinson Public Schools, Hutchinson Kiwanis Club, Hutchinson Symphony, Hutchinson Chamber of Commerce, Prairie Dunes Country Club and Kansas Association of Insurance Agents. He was a state director for the National Association of Insurance Agents.He married Dorothy Shields on Aug. 17, 1940, in Dallas. She died July 8, 1996.A son, Stephen K., also died earlier.Survivors include a son, W. Michael, Lawrence; a brother, Norval, Hutchinson; and two grandchildren.Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Elliott Mortuary in Hutchinson, where the family will receive friends after the services at the church.The family suggests memorials to the Hutchinson Community College Endowment Assn. or the church, sent in care of the mortuary, 1219 N.
