Raymond William Jahn

Services for Raymond William Jahn, 77, Eudora, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary’s Eudora Chapel. Burial will follow in Eudora Cemetery.Mr. Jahn died Monday, Jan. 16, 2006, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.He was born May 31, 1928, in Winter, S.D., the son of William Paul and Emma Marie Behrens Jahn. He lived in Eudora for more than 30 years.Mr. Jahn served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a yard and warehouse foreman for 38 years at Payless Cashways in Sioux City, Iowa, and Kansas City, Kan., and retired in 1991.He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lawrence.He married Velma M. Biggerstaff on Jan. 27, 1951, in South Sioux City, Neb. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include two sons, Michael, Linn Valley, and Ricky, Sioux City, Iowa; two daughters, Vickie Schafer, St. Louis, and Jody McAfee, Eudora; a brother, Arthur, Nashua, Iowa; a sister, Helen Collomy, Parsonsfield, Maine; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the chapel in Eudora.The family suggests memorials to the church or a charity of the donor’s choice, sent in care of the chapel, 1003 John L.
