Verneta B. Hensley 1922 - 2006
Services for Verneta B. Hensley, 83, Claremont, Calif., will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.Mrs. Hensley died Friday, Jan. 6, 2006, at the Genesis Boarding Home in Claremont. She was born July 18, 1922, in Fairbury, Neb., the daughter of Edward Riley and Mary Walter Clem.Mrs. Hensley was a longtime resident of Lawrence. She worked in food service at South Junior High School for 21 years and retired in 1990. She was a member of the Church of Christ, 201 N. Mich., for many years.She married William J. Hensley on Oct. 15, 1941, in Red Cloud, Neb. He died Dec. 2, 2003.Survivors include two sons, Edward Hensley, Garberville, Calif., and Craig Hensley, La Verne, Calif.; a daughter, Gayle Bilbee, Clermont, Ind.; and four grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.The family suggests memorials to the William Hensley Memorial Fund, sent in care of the mortuary.
