Shirley Ann Rea 1931 - 2006 Lawrence

Services for Shirley Ann Rea, 74, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.Mrs. Rea died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2006, at The Windsor in Lawrence. She was born May 22, 1931, in Ottawa, the daughter of Ted W. and Mildred Davis Strain. She graduated from Ottawa High School in 1949.Mrs. Rea taught in the speech department at Kansas University. She also worked as a bookkeeper at Liberty Hall for 20 years. She was involved in both the KU and Lawrence Community theaters. She was a member of First Family Church of Overland Park and Lawrence.She married Tom Rea on Jan. 3, 1954, in Ottawa. He died earlier.Survivors include two sons, Tommy J. Rea, Des Moines, Iowa, and Danton T. Rea, Lawrence; a daughter, Nancy A. Freeman, Wichita; a half-brother, Ted D. Strain, Ruidoso, N.M.; and six grandchildren.Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.The family suggests memorials to the KU Endowment Association Tom P.
