Philip L. Barlow

Memorial services for Philip L. Barlow, 76, Lawrence, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Mr. Barlow died Monday, Feb. 13, 2006, at his home.He was born Dec. 9, 1929, in Burlingame, the son of Marion A. and Jessie Ridley Barlow. He attended University High School in Lawrence.Mr. Barlow served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict as a gunner’s mate third class. He worked for Lawrence Paper Co. and retired in 1994.He was a member of West Side Presbyterian Church, a charter member of the Lawrence Optimist Club, Kansas Historical Council, Lawrence Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite. He was a 4-H and Cub Scout leader.He married Peggy Brown on July 1, 1959, in Wichita. She died Dec. 10, 2001.Survivors include three sons, Robert, Lawrence, David, Park City, and Paul, Hutchinson; three sisters, Marie Love, Watsonville, Calif., Norma Jean Carpenter, Rockwall, Texas, and Darlene Lindley, Kerrville, Texas; and five grandchildren.The family will receive friends after services Friday at the mortuary.The family suggests memorials to Douglas County Visiting Nurses Assn. or Hospice Care in Douglas County, sent in care of the mortuary.E-mail condolences may be sent to info@warrenmcelwain.com, subject: Barlow.
