Eben Baldwin Farley 1919 - 2006
Eben Baldwin Farley, 86, Lawrence, died Sunday, Feb. 12, 2006, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.He was born Oct. 24, 1919, in Lawrence, the son of James Theron and Mary Elizabeth Baldwin Farley. He grew up and attended school in Lawrence. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and economics from Kansas University.Mr. Farley served in the U.S. Air Force from 1941 to 1945. He farmed for 55 years and was a manager for the U.S. Department of Agriculture for 25 years.He was a member of American Legion Post No. 14, Masons Lodge No. 6, KU Alumni Association, Abdallah Shrine and Trinity Lutheran Church.He married Dorothy Jean Cook on May 2, 1947, in Lawrence. She died Nov. 17, 1990.Survivors include two sons, Eben B. II, Winnetka, Calif., and Randall, Lawrence; a daughter, Valerie Moreau, Lawrence; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.The family suggests memorials to Hospice Care in Douglas County, sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.Online condolences may be sent at <a href="http://www.rumsey-yost.com">www.rumsey-yost.com</a>.
