Rose Denton

Graveside services for Rose Denton, 84, Lawrence, will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Denton died Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006, at her home.She was born May 14, 1921, in Thun, Switzerland, the daughter of Karl and Rosa Schild Finger. She grew up on a farm in Powhattan.Mrs. Denton was a homemaker. She had worked at Kansas Color Press and the Topeka Capital-Journal.She was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, where she served as state commander, and Trinity Lutheran Church. She was a sewing leader for Meadowlark 4-H Club.She married Norman C. Denton on Aug. 14, 1949, in Everest. He died July 5, 2001.Survivors include a son, Lawrence Denton, Lawrence; two daughters, Norma Jantz, Topeka, and Jeanette Denton, Lawrence; and a granddaughter.The family will receive friends at the church after the services.The family suggests memorials to the church or Disabled American Veterans, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.E-mail condolences may be sent to info@warrenmcelwain.com, subject: Denton.
