Karen "Katy" Jeffrey Buck 1949 - 2006 Lawrence
Services for Karen Jeffrey "Katy" Buck, 56, Lawrence, will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Grace Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Leavenworth National Cemetery.Mrs. Buck died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006, at her home after a long illness.She was born March 27, 1949, in Oxford Mills, Iowa, the daughter of Lyle W. and Evalena B. Rickels Jeffrey. She graduated from Clinton High School in Clinton, Iowa, in 1967. She attended West Suburban School of Nursing in Oak Park, Ill., and received a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the University of Iowa School of Nursing. She also received a Master of Science in Nursing degree from the Rush Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago. She moved from Oak Park, Ill., to Lawrence in 1993.Mrs. Buck was a registered nurse and a certified pediatric nurse practitioner. She was a nurse for the Lawrence school district since 1994 and also served as nursing services facilitator. She was a member of Grace Evangelical Presbyterian Church and Sigma Theta Tau nursing sorority. She also served as a board member for the Douglas County Safe Kids Coalition.She married Charles H. "Charlie" Buck Jr. on June 21, 1980, in Clinton, Iowa. He survives, of the home.Other survivors include a son, Charles H. "Chad" Buck III, Lawrence; two daughters, Regan Buck Bardeen, Los Angeles, and Ashlyn Nicole Buck, Lawrence; a brother, Stephen Jeffrey, Elburn, Ill., and a sister, Carol Brokaw, Burlington, Iowa.Friends may call after 10 a.m. today at Lawrence Funeral Chapel, where the family will receive them from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.
