Kenneth Ray Williams

Services for Kenneth Ray Williams, 79, Tonganoxie, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of McLouth. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Kansas City, Kan.Mr. Williams died Monday, Jan. 30, 2006, at his home.He was born May 13, 1926, in Hawthorne, Calif., the son of Virgil Wayne and Melvina Heater Williams. He moved from Lawrence to Tonganoxie in 1988.Mr. Williams served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946 during World War II. He worked as a machinist for Lawrence Paper Co. for eight years and Sunshine Biscuit Co. in Kansas City, Kan., for 26 years. He also worked for National Beef in Kansas City, Kan., for eight years.He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he served as deacon.He married Eva Mae Longfellow on May 5, 1949, in Osceola, Mo. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include three sons, Curtis, Kenneth R. and Johnnie W., all of Leavenworth; a daughter, Carolyn Retter, Lawrence; a brother, Virgil J., Osceola, Mo.; two sisters, Patricia Ann Summers and Mary Ellen Burton, El Dorado Springs, Mo.; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Oskaloosa.
