Jo M. Buzzard 1946 - 2006 rural Lecompton
Services for Jo Marie Buzzard, 60, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.Mrs. Buzzard died Friday, Dec. 29, 2006, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.She was born May 31, 1946, in Watertown, S.D., the daughter of Joe and Dorothy Hatlestad Enderlin. She moved to Lawrence nearly 20 years ago from Santee, Neb.Mrs. Buzzard was a retired insurance agent with American Family Insurance, where she earned All American and Life Diamond status numerous times. She had been a music teacher in Nebraska and Iowa and was a Title One coordinator for the state of Nebraska.She was a Life Underwriter Training Council fellow and was formerly active in the Better Business Bureau of Northeast Kansas. She was also a member of the Lawrence Women's Network, where she earned the Outstanding Career Woman award. She formerly played the saxophone and piano.She married Marvin Buzzard on June 16, 1974, in Vermillion, S.D. He survives, of the home.Other survivors include a daughter, Rachael Falcon and husband Tony, Lawrence; and a granddaughter, Mia.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.The family suggests memorials in her name to the Haskell Cultural Center, sent in care of the mortuary.
