Frances M. Ramirez

Services for Frances M. Ramirez, 74, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Horton. Burial will be in St. Leo’s Catholic Cemetery.Mrs. Ramirez died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006, at her home.She was born June 8, 1932, in St. John, N.D., the daughter of George and Leah Aiken Jeannotte.Mrs. Ramirez was the former director of the food distribution program at the United Tribes of Northeast Kansas. She was a member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians of North Dakota, and St. Leo’s Catholic Church and Altar Society.She married Tony Ramirez on July 5, 1952, in Horton. He survives, of the home.Other survivors include three sons, Michael Ramirez, Lawrence, Martin Ramirez, Lebo, and Mark Ramirez, Longmont, Colo.; five daughters, Lou Ann Scott, of Eudora, Lisa Morgan, Laurie Ramirez, Toni Wheeler and Trina Ramirez, all of Lawrence; a brother, Elmer Jeannotte, Topeka; a sister, Evelyn Ramirez, Horton; and 16 grandchildren.A prayer service will be at 6 p.m. Monday at Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton.
