Anna Melba Rehmer

Services for Anna Melba Rehmer, 84, Yates Center, will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at First Christian Church in Yates Center. Burial will be in Yates Center Cemetery.Mrs. Rehmer died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2006, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.She was born Oct. 7, 1922, in Toronto, Kan., the daughter of John J. and Sadie Alley Swilley. She attended school in Toronto. She also lived in Lawrence, Yates Center and Eudora.Mrs. Rehmer taught school in the Big Sandy area of Woodson County during World War II. She worked in the catalog department at Montgomery Ward Co. in Lawrence for many years and retired in 1975. She was an active member of First Christian Church in Lawrence and Yates Center.She married Kenneth J. “Kenny” Rehmer on Feb. 24, 1943, in Eureka. He died in August 2005.Mrs. Rehmer was also preceded in death by an infant son.Survivors include a son, Jim Rehmer, Eudora; two daughters, Linda Thompson, Cave Creek, Ariz., and Julie Green, Lawrence; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Campbell Funeral Home in Yates Center.The family suggests memorials to the church, sent in care of the funeral home, P.O.
