LaVone Crawford Anderson

Services for LaVone Crawford Anderson, 88, Lawrence, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hillcrest Covenant Church in Prairie Village. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Clay Center, where graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday.Mrs. Anderson died Friday, Dec. 22, 2006, at Presbyterian Manor in Lawrence.She was born Oct. 28, 1918, in Green, the daughter of Clay and Ethel Ensign Crawford.Mrs. Anderson graduated from Clay County Community High School in 1935 and began teaching that fall. She taught at three country schools in the Clay Center area in the next five years and spent two summers taking teacher training courses at Kansas State University.She lived in Milwaukee and Omaha, Neb., before returning to the Kansas City area in 1977. She moved to Lawrence in 2004.She taught Sunday school, neighborhood after-school Bible classes, adult Bible studies and piano lessons in the home. She also wrote devotionals and songs, several of which were published in 1981 under the title “Singing a New Song.” She enjoyed being a wife and mother.She married Clifford Anderson on Oct. 26, 1940. He preceded her in death.Mrs. Anderson also was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Anderson; her parents; two brothers, Harold and Ralph Crawford; and a sister, Helene Lloyda.Survivors include a son, Ted Anderson and wife Carol, Kingston, Wash.; a daughter, Nancy Bonner and husband Tim, Lawrence; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at D.W.
