Manhattan – Funeral services for Megan Lynn Barnett, 25, Kansas City, Kan., will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Manhattan with the Rev. Jim Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Sunrise Cemetery in Manhattan.Miss Barnett died Friday, Dec. 15, 2006, near Columbia, Mo.She was born on May 11, 1981, in Emporia, the daughter of Mark I. and Marcia Lynn Breithaupt Barnett. She attended public schools in Manhattan and graduated from Manhattan High School in 1999, where she was a member of the rowing team. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Spanish and pre-physical therapy from Kansas University in Lawrence, where she played on the women’s lacrosse team and graduated magna cum laude. She was currently a graduate student at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Mo., where she was in the Doctoral Program in Physical Therapy. Miss Barnett was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Manhattan. Survivors include her father and step-mother, Mark I. and Patty Brown-Barnett, Manhattan; a brother, Chad Barnett and wife Chris, Houston; a step-sister, Jenny Brecht, Manhattan; a step-brother, Paul Brecht, Manhattan; step-grandparents, Lloyd and Marilyn Brown of Silver Spring, Md.; three aunts, Carol Barnett, Fresno, Calif., Janet Breithaupt, Overland Park, and Donna Brown MacFarland, Silver Spring, Md.; an uncle, Donald Breithaupt, Aurora, Colo.; and her boyfriend, Greg Rosen, Kansas City, Mo.She was preceded in death by her mother, Marcia Lynn Barnett, in 1989; her maternal and paternal grandparents; and an uncle, Charles Breithaupt.The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home in Manhattan.The family suggests memorials to First United Methodist Church or Trinity Presbyterian Church, sent in care of the funeral home, 1616 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan 66502.Online condolences may be sent at www.ymlfuneralhome.com.
