William "Bill" Plake 1935 - 2006 Tonganoxie

Tonganoxie - Mass of Christian burial for William "Bill" Plake, 71, Tonganoxie, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Tonganoxie. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Tonganoxie.Mr. Plake died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006, at his home.He was born Jan. 26, 1935, in Chanute, the son of Leo Clifford and Wilma Pearl Hornbeck Plake. Mr. Plake worked for many years in the grocery business and for Shade Tree Service Co. and retired in 1978. He and his wife owned and operated Granny's Hilltop from 1982 to 1992.He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, a fourth-degree knight in Knights of Columbus and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local No. 53. He married Wilma Eskina on Nov. 10, 1956, in Kansas City, Kan. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include three sons, Brian, McLouth, Gregg, Lawrence, and William, Tonganoxie; two daughters, Michelle Collier and Kathy Caenen, both of Tonganoxie; a brother, Wilford, Kansas City, Kan.; a sister, Beverly Plake, Kansas City, Kan.; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.The family suggests memorials to the Sacred Heart Prayer Garden or Knights of Columbus, which includes Project Moses, sent in care of Quisenberry Funeral Home, P.O.
