Darl Dean Lewellen

Graveside services for Darl Dean Lewellen, 78, Baldwin City, will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Cameron Memory Gardens Cemetery in Cameron, Mo. Mr. Lewellen died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2006, at his home.He was born July 26, 1928, in Turney, Mo., the son of Clifton J. and Jennie Ann Strope Lewellen. He grew up and attended schools in the Turney area. He moved to Lawrence in 1964, then moved to Toledo, Ohio, in 1970 before moving to Baldwin City.Mr. Lewellen was a stockman for many years in the Kansas City, Mo., Stockyards. He worked as a welder at US1 Chemical in De Soto and as an operation manager at Coulton Chemical in Toledo, Ohio. He became the plant manager at Cairo Chemical in Lima, Ohio, and retired in 1991.He married Ruth L. Blosser on Sept. 24, 1945, in Turney, Mo. She survives, of the home. Survivors include a son, Gary, Baldwin City; three daughters, Judy Walters, Perry, Lynn Lewellen, Topeka, and Gwen Tillisch, Blythewood, S.C.; two brothers, Clifton L. Jr., Cameron, Mo., and Robert, Topeka; a sister, JoAnn Sjoberg, Mesa, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Michelle Gordon, Stephanie Whittaker and Beau and Jamie Tillisch; and seven great-grandchildren, Natasha, Kendra, Mikayla, Jessica, Angela, Julie and Tristyn.The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Poland-Thompson Funeral Home in Cameron, Mo.
