Herman Bahm

Dighton – Funeral services for Herman Bahm, 94, Dighton, will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Dighton. Burial will be in Dighton Memorial Cemetery.Mr. Bahm died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2006, at the Lane County long-term care unit in Dighton.He was born Aug. 25, 1912, in Saronville, Neb., the son of John and Mary Schmidt Bahm.Mr. Bahm moved to Dighton in 1947, where he was a farmer, auctioneer, salesman for the Davidson-Gough Ford Motor Co. and a co-owner of the Bahm-Filbert Chevrolet dealership. He worked and managed the Home Lumber Co. in Dighton until he retired in 1985. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Dighton Rotary Club for 27 years, including 11 years as secretary and treasurer. He and his wife, Ruth, each received the Paul Harris Fellow Award from the Rotary organization.He married Ruth Kuehn on March 3, 1940, in Dighton. She died Feb. 20, 1994.Survivors include two daughters, Rogene Anderson, Lawrence, and Neva Staker, Wichita; a brother, Reuben, Dighton; a sister, Emma Schneider, Bazine; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Boomhower Funeral Home of Dighton.The family suggests memorials to the church, sent in care of the funeral home, 145 N.
