Frank R. Waters

Services for Frank R. Waters Jr., 81, Baldwin, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Lighthouse Baptist Church in Baldwin. Burial will follow in Easton Cemetery in Easton.Mr. Waters died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2006, at Baldwin Healthcare and Rehab Center.He was born Feb. 8, 1925, in Leavenworth, the son of Frank R. Sr. and Gertrude A. Mann Waters. He grew up in Leavenworth County and attended Jarbalo and High Prairie schools.Mr. Waters worked most of his life as a self-employed carpenter and built and remodeled homes in Leavenworth County. He enjoyed raising Angus cattle, gardening, building furniture for his family and friends and getting involved with missions work, where he helped build and remodel homes.He married Virginia Arlene Ready on May 5, 1946, in Basehor. She died Jan. 23, 1988. He married Ruby Elizabeth Hamline on Nov. 26, 1993, in Leavenworth. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include two sons, Larry and wife, Christine, Baldwin, and Arden and wife, Shirley, Tonganoxie; a daughter, Dorothy Waters, Lawrence; two sisters, Mary Nida Lohman, Pleasant Valley, Wash., and Leah Kathryn Turner, Overbrook; a brother, Vernon Waters, Leavenworth; two stepsons, Gary Hamline and wife, Mary, Cole Camp, Mo., and Philip Hamline and wife, Helaine, South Korea; a stepdaughter, Ruby Elaine Hamline, Independence, Mo.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.A son, Robert L., died earlier; a stepson, Lary Hamline, died earlier; and two brothers, Marion and Forrest “Snicks,” died earlier.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home in Baldwin.The family suggests memorials to Lighthouse Baptist Church or Heart of America Hospice, sent in care of the funeral home, P.O.
