Ruth H. Quinby

Services for Ruth H. Quinby, 83, La Crosse, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at English Lutheran Church in La Crosse. Mrs. Quinby died Tuesday, August 22, 2006, at Bethany Riverside in La Crosse.She was born Jan. 3, 1923, in Harrisburg, Pa., to William and Dorothy Quinby Brown.Mrs. Quinby served in the U.S. Women’s Army Corps during World War II, where she worked as a physical therapy assistant at various VA hospitals. She was a respite care volunteer. She was a secretary at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse for more than 30 years.She married Hollis New. They divorced.Survivors include a son, Steven New, La Crosse; two daughters, Toni Dudley, Lawrence, Kan., and Teri McDougle, La Crosse; a sister, Barbara Amon, Sacramento, Calif.; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.Her special friend Arnold Thompson died earlier.The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday before the services at the church.
