Donald W. Richardson 1934 - 2006 Eudora
Services for Donald W. Richardson, 72, Eudora, will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary's Eudora Chapel. Burial will follow in Eudora Cemetery.Mr. Richardson died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2006, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center.He was born Aug. 8, 1934, in Liberty, Mo., the son of Fred and Hazel Powell Richardson. He moved from Kansas City, Mo., to Eudora in 1957.Mr. Richardson was a retired carpenter and electrician. He had worked more than 39 years at Farmland Industries in Lawrence. He was a member of the AFL-CIO and had been president of the Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers Union for 12 years.He married Alice Adcox on July 17, 1954, in Kansas City, Mo. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include two daughters, Cynthia Richardson, Eudora, and Phyllis Saler, Lawrence; two sons, David and wife Rita, Eudora, and Steven, Lawrence; a sister, Bonnie Thomsen, Kansas City, Mo.; two half-brothers, James Lewis, Stockton, Mo., and Charles Lewis, Kansas City, Mo.; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary's Eudora Chapel.The family suggests memorials to the American Diabetes Assn., sent in care of the mortuary.Online condolences may be sent at <a href="http://www.warrenmcelwain.com">www.warrenmcelwain.com</a>.
