Francis Marion Chenoweth 1916 - 2006 Parsons
Services for Francis Marion Chenoweth, 90, rural Parsons, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Parsons.Mr. Chenoweth died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2006, at Labette County Medical Center in Parsons.He was born July 18, 1916, in Parsons, the son of Carey and Lela Lenox Chenoweth. He attended Woods Country School and graduated from Parsons High School.Mr. Chenoweth ran a dairy operation in Modesto, Calif. He bought a farm in McCune and started his own dairy operation. He worked for two years at the Katy Railroad Shops and in 1955 purchased a farm outside Parsons, where he continued his dairy operation and sold milk. He sold his dairy operation in 1978 and continued farming. He sold Dekalb seed corn to area farmers for several years and did custom ensilage cutting for other farmers. He was a board member at the Union School near McCune and Prairie Valley School.He married Marian E. "Esther" Addis on Dec. 25, 1937, in Parsons. She died earlier.Survivors include two sons, Marion "Sonny," Parsons, and Jerry, Lenexa; three daughters, Ella Jump, Pittsburg, Wanda Knight, Lawrence, and Mary Whitaker, Mound Valley; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society or American Diabetes Assn., sent in care of the funeral home, P.O.
