Roy L. Braley Jr.

Services for Roy L. Braley Jr., 80, De Soto, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at De Soto United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in De Soto Cemetery.Mr. Braley died Monday, July 31, 2006.He was born Sept. 2, 1925, in Horton, the son of Roy and Laura Braley. He graduated in 1943 from Horton High School.Mr. Braley served in the U.S. Navy as a corpsman during World War II. He graduated in 1950 from Baker University, where he played football for four years. He will be inducted into Baker’s Athletic Hall of Fame this fall.He was a teacher in Westphalia and Cherokee. He moved in 1956 to De Soto, where he taught physical education and driver’s education and coached football, basketball and track at De Soto High School.He was a member of De Soto United Methodist Church and De Soto Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 6654.He married Charlene Crane on July 20, 1958, in Horton. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include a daughter, Karen Braley, Lawrence; a son, Eric, Derby; and a sister, Doris Flinn, San Diego.The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until services Friday at the church.The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Assn., P.O.
