Bertha May Sulzen

Graveside services for Bertha May Sulzen, 81, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence. Mrs. Sulzen died Sunday, July 30, 2006, at Brandon Woods Retirement Community. She was born on Nov. 25, 1924, in Lawrence, the daughter of Roy and Orlena Faye Petefish Goff. She graduated from Liberty Memorial High School in 1942. She was a lifelong resident of Lawrence.Mrs. Sulzen was an account clerk at Kansas University from 1972 until she retired in 1993. She worked in the Facilities and Operations office and the Comptroller’s office. She previously worked at Chuck Wagon Restaurant.She married Charles Sulzen on Jan. 20, 1943, in Topeka. He died Jan. 11, 1996. Survivors include two daughters, Linda M. Sulzen, Tonganoxie, and Orlena F. Carr, Lawrence; a brother, George Goff, Lawrence; a sister, Bernice Kennedy, Lawrence; two grandsons; and one great-granddaughter. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. today at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
