John “Jack” Morrissey

Topeka – Mass of Christian Burial for John “Jack” Morrissey, 78, Topeka, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Christ the King Church in Topeka. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Topeka.Mr. Morrissey died Monday, April 24, 2006.He was born Sept. 5, 1927, in Janesville, Wis., the son of William and Marie Gerlach Kennedy Morrissey. He attended Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, and graduated from Washburn University in Topeka.Mr. Morrissey served in the U.S. Merchant Marines. He was owner and manager of Fairlane Apartments and retired in 1997. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church.He married Mary Lou Nolan on June 11, 1955. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include two sons, David, Little Rock, Ark., and Michael, Topeka; four daughters, Ellen Cox, Carthage, Mo., Beth Klobasa, Manhattan, Janet Reynolds, Eudora, and Suzanne Morrissey, Lawrence; and 10 grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home in Topeka, where a rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Wednesday.The family suggests memorials to Washburn University, sent in care of the funeral home, 2801 S.W.
