Ralph L. Burnett

Longmont, Colo. – A celebration of life and visitation service for Ralph L. Burnett, 83, Boulder, will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel in Longmont. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Staging Area A, in Denver.Mr. Burnett died Sunday, April 9, 2006, in Boulder.He was born May 6, 1922, in Grass Creek, Wyo., the son of Cullen I. and Mabel R. Burnett. He graduated from Waukegan (Ill.) High School in 1940 and attended Knox College on a football scholarship. He graduated from Kansas University in 1948 with a degree in political science and attended KU’s law school.Mr. Burnett served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1945 in China, Burma and the Pacific Theater. He was discharged as a staff sergeant. He worked in the life insurance industry from 1951 to 1976 with Farmers Insurance in Lawrence, Colorado Life and Capitol Life. He also built custom homes for 10 years. He was a volunteer for many organizations.He married Helen Patricia Biegert on June 7, 1950, in Lawrence. She died Feb. 2, 2000.A daughter, Catherine Anne Wylie, died Aug. 10, 1998.Survivors include a son, Scott, Longmont; four brothers, John, Tucson, Ariz., Wayne, Longmont, Richard, Roseville, Calif., and Norman, Burlington, Vt.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.The family suggests memorials to KU or Knox College Scholarship Fund, sent in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry St., Longmont, CO 80501.
