Joseph Clark Herd

A memorial gathering for Joseph Clark Herd, 93, Lawrence, will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.Mr. Herd died Thursday, April 13, 2006, at the Windsor of Lawrence.He was born Feb. 7, 1913, in Carl Junction, Mo., the son of Joseph E. and Henrietta M. Clark Herd.Mr. Herd attended John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Ark., and business college in Springfield, Mo. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War and worked as an accountant for Boeing Aircraft in Wichita. He moved to Lawrence in 1988 from Wichita.He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and Trinity Episcopal Church in Lawrence.He married Imogean “Gean” Pinkley on March 12, 1950, in Wichita. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include three daughters, Pam Dowell, Mentone, Ind., Debbie Van Saun, Lawrence, and Sandy Herd, Lawrence; and four grandchildren.The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer’s and Related Disorders Assn., sent in care of the mortuary.
