Betty Lou Davis Baker

Topeka – Services for Betty Lou Davis Baker, 72, Topeka, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Highland Park United Methodist Church in Topeka. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel’s Memorial Park Cemetery in Topeka.Mrs. Baker died Saturday, April 15, 2006, at her home.She was born April 25, 1933, in Lawrence, the daughter of Roy Edward and Maxine Agnes Cobb Davis.Mrs. Baker graduated from Liberty Memorial High School in Lawrence and attended Kansas University. She moved to Topeka in 1966.She was a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church and the Midwest Couples Fishing Assn.She married Gilbert Baker Sr. on Dec. 31, 1954, in Lawrence. He survives.Other survivors include a daughter, Joan Heckel, Topeka; two sons, Gilbert Jr., Hoyt, and Michael, Papillion, Neb.; a sister, Vicki Leochner, Lecompton; a stepbrother, James Jackson, Oklahoma City; 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.Friends may call after 3 p.m. Monday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home’s Southeast Chapel, where the family will receive them from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.The family suggests memorials to Midland Hospice Care in Topeka or the church, sent in care of the funeral home, 2843 S.E.
