Helen M. Fishel

Graveside services for Helen M. Fishel, 99, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Fishel died Monday, April 10, 2006, at Brandon Woods Retirement Community. She was born Oct. 21, 1906, in Illinois, the daughter of John and Libby May Murphy Mayo. She had lived in Lawrence since 1941.Mrs. Fishel was a homemaker and a member of First Presbyterian Church. She also was a member of Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem No. 11, Social Order of the Beauceant No. 25, Adah Chapter No. 7, Order of Eastern Star and Guardian of Job’s Daughters.She married Vinton C. Fishel on May 31, 1931, in Washington, D.C. He died April 15, 1978.Survivors include a daughter, Vinita M. Richardson, Hillard, Ohio; a son, Charles V. Fishel, Salinas, Calif.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.The family suggests memorials to the Brandon Woods Employee Recognition Fund, sent in care of the mortuary.
