Ruby Louise Gwillim Brann 1920 - 2006 Lawrence

Services for Ruby Louise Gwillim Brann, 85, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.Mrs. Brann died Saturday, April 1, 2006, at Hospice House of Topeka.She was born Aug. 16, 1920, in Moran, the daughter of William Frederick and Anna Eunice Field Gwillim. She graduated from La Harpe High School in 1937. She lived in Wichita, Salt Lake City, Lawrence and Baldwin.Mrs. Brann worked as a comptometer operator at Beech Aircraft in Wichita, Utah Oil and in the payroll department at Kansas University. She was a member of the Clinton Ladies Church group, Seigel Ladies Aide Society Quilting Club, First United Methodist Quilting Group in Lawrence, Postal Women's Auxiliary and Friendly Hands, Circle of United Methodist Women.She married John W. Brann Jr. on Jan. 12, 1946, in Wichita. He survives, of the home.Other survivors include a son, John W. Brann III, Olathe; two daughters, Barbara Michal, Lookout Mountain, Ga., and Patricia Grewing, Tecumseh; four sisters, Helen Ard, Andover, Betty Carey, Augusta, Doris Alyea, Rapid City, S.D., and Carroll McCoskey, Kansas City, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.A son died in 1954.Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where the family will receive them from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday.The family suggests memorials to the Oncology Unit at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Midland Hospice Care or First United Methodist Church of Lawrence, sent in care of the funeral home.Online condolences may be sent at <a href="http://www.rumsey-yost.com">www.rumsey-yost.com</a>.
