William D. Peery 1919 - 2005 Warrensburg, Mo.
Graveside services with military honors for William D. Peery, 85, Warrensburg, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Sunset Hill Cemetery in Warrensburg. Mr. Peery died Sunday, Sept. 25, 2005, at his home.He was born Nov. 19, 1919, in Avant, Okla., the son of David Baptiste and Mary Caroline James Peery.Mr. Peery served in the U.S. Army in the Cavalry Division during World War II and the Korean War from 1940 to 1966. He was a champion marksman and received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star in World War II. He worked in the Physical Plant at Central Missouri State University for 15 years and retired in 1984. He was a member of the Peoria Tribe in Miami, Okla., and American Legion Post 131 in Warrensburg.He married Maurine Zink on May 2, 1948, in Kansas City, Mo. She died July 19, 1987. He married Sonia Green on Dec. 16, 1992, in Warrensburg. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include a daughter, Denise Brubaker, Lawrence, Kan.; three brothers, Guy and Kenneth, both of Tulsa, Okla., and Jack, Reno, Calif.; a sister, Rheba Gregg, Oklahoma City; and a grandson.The family suggests memorials to Johnson County Hospice, sent in care of Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home, 617 N. Maguire St., Warrensburg, MO 64093.
