A Celebration of Life Service for Bessie Mae Taylor, 88, Lawrence, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Oakwood Cemetery, Parsons.Mrs. Taylor died Saturday, Sept. 24, 2005, at Presbyterian Manor.She was born Dec. 21, 1916, in Anderson County, the daughter of Frank Clinton and Grace Della Wells Mabie.Mrs. Taylor worked at Hallmark for two years and was a cashier at the Kansas Union Bookstore for 17 years, retiring in 1978.She was a former president of the Christian Women’s Fellowship Circle. She also was a former Sunday school teacher and chairwoman of the Sewing Room at the First Christian Church.She married Leonard Zack Taylor on Aug. 9, 1936, in Iola. He died earlier.Two daughters, Linda Taylor Miller and Barbara Taylor, also died earlier.Survivors include a sister, Beth Bell, Overland Park; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday and after 8 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where the family will meet them from 9:30 a.m. until the service hour Wednesday.The family suggests memorials to cancer or heart research at the University of Kansas Medical Center, the First Christian Church of Lawrence, Presbyterian Manor or a charity of the donor’s choice, sent in care of the funeral home.Online condolences may be sent to www.rumsey-yost.com.
