Norma L. Poull 1931 - 2005

Mass of Christian Burial for Norma L. Poull, 73, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lawrence. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Cemetery in Newton.Mrs. Poull died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005, at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor.She was born Oct. 25, 1931, in Harper County, the daughter of Merle C. and Alta McPhetridge Grice. She moved to Lawrence from Newton in 1978.Mrs. Poull was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and served on the Religious Education Committee. She was director of the Catholic Youth Organization for eight years and was bulletin editor at St. John's. She also was a member of St. John's Parish Council. She was a member of the Altar Society of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Newton and a member of St. Mary's Newton Parent Teachers Organization. She also was a member of St. Mary's School Board. She and her husband were advisers for the Catholic Youth Organization.She married Harold R. Poull on April 13, 1950, in Pratt. He died April 30, 1987.Survivors include four sons, Daniel Paul Poull and Kelly James Poull, both of Lawrence, Noel Patrick Poull, Kansas City, Mo., and Harold Michael Poull, Wichita; three daughters, Clare Suzanne Goldt, Overland Park, Helen Kristine Tetrick, Hutchinson, and Jeanne Therese Poull, Lawrence; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence, where the family will receive friends after the rosary.The family suggests memorials to the Catholic Youth Organization or the Hop Poull Scholarship Fund at St. John's, sent in care of the mortuary.E-mail condolences may be sent to <a href="mailto:info@warrenmcelwain.com">info@warrenmcelwain.com</a>, subject: Poull.
