Homer "Ed" Boyd 1922 - 2005 Cherryvale
Services for Homer "Ed" Boyd, 83, Cherryvale, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Potts Chapel of Cherryvale. Graveside services with military honors will be in Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale.Mr. Boyd died Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2005, at Cherryvale Care Center.He was born Feb. 27, 1922, in Lawrence, the son of Walter W. and Ida Mae Whitman Boyd. He grew up and attended schools in Oskaloosa.Mr. Boyd served in the U.S. Air Force from 1942 until he retired in 1968. He was a member of Strategic Air Command.He married Emma G. "Jerry" Watchous on Sept. 30, 1950, in Oskaloosa. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include two sons, Bruce A., Carbondale, and Mark E., Del Norte, Colo.; and five grandchildren.Friends may call from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at the chapel in Cherryvale, where the family will receive them from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.The family suggests memorials to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, sent in care of the chapel, P.O. Box 801, Independence, KS 67301.
