Anna M. Houk 1906 - 2005 Bartlesville, Okla.
Services for Anna M. Houk, 99, Bartlesville, Okla., will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home in Lawrence. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence.Mrs. Houk died Saturday, Oct. 22, 2005, at Bartlesville Care Center.She was born June 4, 1906, in rural Douglas County, the daughter of Horace B. and Maude Mae McKinney Humphrey. She was a lifelong resident of Douglas County until she moved to Bartlesville in 2001.Mrs. Houk and her husband farmed in the Clinton and Stull communities. She worked in the Supply Depot of Forbes Air Force Base in Topeka during World War II. She worked as a housekeeper in Lawrence. She also worked as a cook at Lawrence High School and at a local restaurant. She provided child care for many families. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church, Polly Painters Club, a quilting club, Lawrence Women's Bowling Assn., and various other bowling leagues in Lawrence.She married Harvey P. Houk on April 15, 1925, in Lawrence. He died in February 2001.Survivors include a son, Darrell Houk, Bartlesville; a sister, Lucille Simmons, Lawrence; three granddaughters; and two great-grandsons.Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.The family suggests memorials to Central United Methodist Church of Lawrence or Trinity Hospice of Bartlesville, sent in care of the funeral home.Online condolences may be sent at <a href="http://www.rumsey-yost.com">www.rumsey-yost.com</a>.
