O. Dale Engleman 1920 - 2005 Great Bend
Services for O. Dale Engleman, 85, Great Bend, will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at First Christian Church in Great Bend. Burial will be in Great Bend Cemetery.Mr. Engleman died Monday, Oct. 17, 2005, at Central Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend.He was born Aug. 14, 1920, in Great Bend, the son of O.D. and Elsa Tucker Engleman. He graduated from Great Bend High School in 1938. He attended Georgia Military Academy, Santa Monica Junior College and the University of California, Los Angeles. He lived in Beverly Hills, Calif., for six years and returned to Great Bend in 1947.Mr. Engleman was a volunteer for the U.S. Army Air Corps and became a certified safety engineer for Douglas Aircraft. He was a farmer in Great Bend and became a founder of Security State Bank in 1985, where he served as vice president for 28 years and retired in 1985. He was owner and on the board of directors for Timken State Bank for 13 years. He served as president and board member on the Great Bend Chamber of Commerce and Great Bend Industrial Development Corp. He also served on the school board and was a director and board member of many other organizations.He married Jane Fisher on Nov. 21, 1944, in Wichita Falls, Texas. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include two sons, Mark and Steve, both of Lawrence; and two grandchildren.A son, Scott, died in 1978.Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend.The family suggests memorials to the Scott Tucker Engleman Memorial Loan Fund, sent in care of the funeral home, 1425 Patton Road, Great Bend 67530.
